The book of 1 Thessalonians is a letter the apostle Paul wrote to the Christians in Thessalonica. During his visit to them sudden persecution arose, and the believers sent him away for his safety.
Paul later wrote to these new Christians—who had formerly been pagans—to encourage them in their trials, to instruct them in godly living, to urge some not to neglect daily work, and to give assurance concerning the future of believers who die before Christ returns.
