Doris W. Greig: Founder and Author
Founder of Joy of Living, Doris Greig is the author of Esther; Daniel Chapters 1-6 ; Jonah; Luke (English version discontinued; German translation available); Gospel of John; Acts & 2 Timothy; Philippians & Colossians; 1 Thessalonians; and 1-3 John & Jude; and co-author of Selected Psalms (English version discontinued; German translation available).
Doris also wrote You Can Do It Too!—Opening your heart and home to share God’s love. Many of Doris' lectures are including in Joy of Living's Audio Lecture series.
A graduate of South Dakota State University, Doris accepted the Lord as a young adult. She and her husband, William T. Greig II, former Chairman of the Board of Joy of Living and of Gospel Light, had 4 children and 9 grandchildren.
Joy of Living Bible Studies began when Doris was forced by ill health to stay in bed for a year. The Lord used this time of rest, thought, and prayer to start her on her writing career.
The first Joy of Living class was taught by Doris in Newhall, California in 1971; in 1973 she began a class in Glendale, California. From these humble beginnings Joy of Living has grown to include classes in nearly every state in the Union and many foreign countries.
Doris went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ in 2004, and her husband, Bill, followed her in 2006. Click here to read the memorial tributes to Doris and Bill.
Top of PageRuth Bathauer is the author of Judges, Ruth & 1 Samuel; 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings; Hall of Faith: Study on Hebrews 11; and Isaiah.
She is a graduate of Northern Baptist Seminary in Oakbrook, Illinois, and has also studied at the University of Chicago.
Former editor for Gospel Light in Ventura, California, Ruth wrote and edited both children’s curriculum and adult Bible study materials. She is the author of Parent Care (Regal, out of print).
Top of PageNancy Collins is the author of Genesis; author of the Daily Study Questions for Nehemiah, Job, Psalms from the Heart, Gospel of Mark, Romans, Ephesians and Revelation; and co-author of the Daily Study Questions for Psalms of Faith. She also wrote the Joy of Living pre-school studies on Luke, Acts, and 2 Timothy; and co-authored the Leadership Training Guide.
A Joy of Living speaker and staff member, Nancy holds a Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies. She has been a speaker and Bible teacher for over 30 years, ministering to both children and adults.
Nancy and her husband, Charles, live in Southern California. They have 7 adult children.
Top of PagePat Kampenga is the author of the Joy of Living Youth Studies. While Pat was in leadership at a Joy of Living class in La Crescenta, California, she found that many mothers of home-schooled children wished to attend the daytime Bible study, but the only children's programs offered were for nursery and preschool-age children. Pat began writing studies to use in a her class's program for home-schooled children (ages 6-14). Pat and her husband live in Texas.
Top of PageJanice McNees taught a Joy of Living class for many years in La Crescenta, California. She is co-author of Selected Psalms (English version discontinued; German translation available). She is also a Joy of Living speaker.
Raised in the Jewish faith in England, Janice accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Messiah during her early twenties. She has taught all ages from preschool through adults, and is a popular speaker for retreats, banquets, workshops and conventions. Janice and her husband, LeRoy, make their home in Southern California.
Jean Randall is author of the commentary portion of Exodus: From Egypt to the Promised Land and of Hebrews, and co-author of Selected Psalms (English version discontinued, German translation available).
Jean attended Moody Bible Institute. She was a pastor’s wife and Christian bookstore owner, and was associated with both Moody Press and Biola College. She went home to be with the Lord in 2001.
Top of PageJoan Regan, author of the Joy of Living Preschool Study, Bible Basics for Little Ones, attended a Joy of Living Class in Glendale, California. Joan originally wrote the material for a "mother's morning out" program in her church, and then generously donated it to Joy of Living.
Top of PageDr. Robert S. Ricker is the author of the commentary portion of Ecclesiastes.
Dr. Ricker was elected as the first President of the Baptist General Conference, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Previously, he served 24 years as a senior pastor. He recently served on the Advisory Council for the English Standard Version of the Bible.
Dr. Ricker has 3 degrees from Bethel College and Seminary, Minneapolis, Minnesota, including a Doctor of Ministry from the seminary. He and his wife have 2 adult children. They currently reside in Southern California.

Daughter of Founder Doris Greig, Kathy has been the Director of Joy of Living since 1980. She is a graduate of Westmont College. Kathy and her husband, Gary, live in Southern California. They have four adult children.

He was a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary and a highly respected Bible expositor. While still in seminary, Ray served two summers in youth ministry at the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles, pastored by Dr. J. Vernon McGee. Immediately following graduation from seminary, Ray traveled with the well known Bible teacher, Dr. Harry A. Ironside, who for many years was pastor of Moody Bible Church in Chicago. Ray, his wife Elaine and their family then moved to Palo Alto, California, where Ray served 40 years as pastor of the Peninsula Bible Church.
Ray and Elaine were blessed with 4 daughters and eventually 11 grandchildren. Ray went home to be with the Lord in 1992.

Dottie Heseman, author of the daily study questions for 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians, became a Christian as a young child and has been involved in Christian work most of her adult life. A former volunteer with Young Life, she has taught both adults and children. She and her husband, John Heseman, make their home in Indiana.
