1st column, 4th paragraph changed:

Paul then tells us in Romans 1:5, ÒThrough [Jesus] and for his nameÕs sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.Ó So Paul was called by God and set apart so that he might call others to faith and obedience. Paul continues:

24

The section, ÒGodÕs View of Homosexuality,Ó has been modified:

In the next few verses, Paul shows us another sign of a godless and wicked society. Please read Romans 1:25-27. Here, Paul speaks frankly about an issue that remains controversial in our society today: homosexuality. When godless people exchange the truth for a lie, God allows them to exchange natural sexual functions for unnatural functions. He removes the normal restraints so that homosexuality (as well as other sexual perversions) become widely accepted in a godless society.

In the first-century world in which Paul lived, homosexuality was commonplace and accepted, much as it is in our society today. Many of the great philosophers practiced it. Socrates was a homosexual, as were fourteen of the first fifteen Roman emperors.

Today homosexuals are encouraged to believe the lie that this is a biological condition which they cannot help, but to which they should adjust. However, homosexuality is a sin, and like other sins, it can be forgiven. Having met and talked to people who have been delivered from homosexuality, I know that there is help for the homosexual. He or she can be delivered and freed from this sin by the power and grace of Jesus Christ. No matter what sin a person commits and is in bondage to, he or she can be delivered and forgiven by the grace and power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul speaks of a Òdue penaltyÓ for homosexual sin. What that involves cannot be completely known. Mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual repercussions may all be involved.

6th day, questions 3-4 changed to:

3.         a.         What will the believer who perseveres under trial receive? (James 1:12b)

b.         Who has been promised this crown? (James 1:12c)

c.         The Greek word for crown in James 1:12 is stephanos, which refers to a garland or chaplet worn by a victorious athlete. Believers have been given the gift of eternal life, but the Òcrown of lifeÓ referred to in James 1:12 is a reward to the believer who is victorious in his struggle against trials. From 1 John 5:4-5, who is victorious?

4.         Personal: Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do you love Him? Every believer is secure in Him. Whatever trials, whatever tests come your way, God will see you through and work it for your good. Read JesusÕ words in John 10:27-30. How does this comfort you?

James says that when we have Òstood the testÓ that proves our faith genuine, we will receive Òthe crown of life that God has promised to those who love himÓ (James 1:12).
